Nearly 1700 graduands will graduate from the University of Otago at three ceremonies this month, the first today.
Dr Andrew West, former chairman of the Tertiary Education Commission, will give the graduation address at the Dunedin Town Hall today.
More than 460 graduands will graduate in person in applied science, consumer and applied sciences, physical education, science and surveying at the ceremony. More than 100 will graduate in absentia.
Air New Zealand group general manager Vanessa Stoddart will give the address at the second ceremony, next Saturday, where about 460 will gain degrees and diplomas in commerce, tourism and law. About 60 will graduate in absentia.
The university vice-chancellor, Prof Sir David Skegg, will receive an honorary doctorate of laws degree and will give the graduation address at the third ceremony, on May 21.
At the third ceremony, more than 330 graduands in arts, education, music, teaching, theology, biomedical science, dentistry, health sciences, medicine, medical laboratory science, pharmacy and physiotherapy will graduate in person. About 260 will graduate in absentia.
