These second-year University of Otago students found an inventive, if somewhat precarious, way to transport the couch they had purchased from its previous home in Clyde St to their flat in Castle St on Friday.
With ropes and tie-downs nowhere to be seen, it was down to George Ingham (18), of Christchurch (left), and Tim Bryce (19), of Blenheim, to hold the couch steady while their flatmate Michael Bloy (19), of Paraparaumu, drove.
Sitting beside him are two other flatmates, Marlon Johnson (20), of Queenstown, (centre) and Liam Mecredy (19), of Palmerston North.
Despite the couch's less than pristine condition, the flatmates gave assurances it was for sitting on, not burning.
