Speed Flatting, run by the university accommodation office and the Otago University Students Association, had its second session yesterday.
OUSA education co-ordinator Matt Tucker said it was a great service for students with "no risk and no cost" to them.
"It allows people to meet different people in non-committal environment."
Students looking to join a flat, or flats looking for flatmates registered at the accommodation office to join the sessions.
These operated in a format similar to speed dating in which each group was given a number and moved around to meet each other.
They were given time to chat and exchange numbers if they wanted to.
"We are just trying to make it easier for students to find flatmates."
Information about the next speed flatting session was available from the accommodation office and the OUSA website.
