Tomorrow night's Shapeshifter concert is a sell-out, capping what has been a well-attended 2012 Orientadium.

This year's University of Otago Orientation has included headline gigs at the Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Since Monday, nightly events at the venue have attracted thousands of students and members of the public, to the delight of organisers.

Otago University Students' Association (OUSA) events manager Kitty Brown said ticket sales were moving really well.

Shapeshifter tickets sold out on Wednesday.

About 3000 tickets for the Hip Hop Party last night had been sold by 5.30 and door sales were expected to boost that figure further, Mrs Brown said.

Tickets are still available for the Shihad gig at the stadium tonight and organisers expect a last-minute surge for the concert.

A 4500 capacity is in place for the three main music events at the stadium's east stand, although comedy and hypnotist acts earlier in the week were staged at the west stand and could take an additional 500.

Mrs Brown said OUSA was thrilled with how well supported its Orientadium events had been and with the behaviour of those present.

"We are rapt. We've had the Dunedin police down there and they've been really impressed," she said.

About 2200 people bought tickets to see hypnotist Guy Cater on Monday, and Tuesday night's Dub my Toga party attracted 2400 students.

A comedy show on Wednesday evening also drew thousands.

OUSA president Logan Edgar said he had attended each stadium event so far and was impressed with the number of others present.

University of Otago vice-chancellor Prof Harlene Hayne had been among those in the stands interacting with students, Mrs Brown said.
