Nukes at St Clair

St Clair School pupils hone their ukulele skills as they are taught by ukulele band The Nukes yesterday as part of the Dunedin Arts Festival.

The Nukes manager Simon Vare said the ukulele band had been playing together for 14 years and teaching for about 10.

They had taught their skills overseas and recently came back from Australia.

Many pupils learned music from a book, but the purpose of the workshop was to get the children standing up, singing and having fun.

It gave them the skills to introduce their own creativity into the music, he said.
