Our family setting off from Brockville for a picnic tea at Taieri Mouth and having to come back home for our left-behind laisa ma kale sosisi (rice and curried sausages)

If you were going to an island and could only take three things, what would they be and why?

My yet-to-be-purchased emergency kit. As ''newbie'' city councillors, briefed last year by Chris Hawker (Group Controller, Emergency Management Otago), we were told that before wecan assist in our communities, we need to ensure that our own households are emergency-ready.

What's something only your family knows about you?

Although peanut butter is never one of my preferences for toast, I indulge in Whittaker's Peanut Butter chocolate.

You are a new addition to the crayon box. What colour are you, and why?

Black. I wear black every day. To me, black is reassuring, solid and reliable. I like pondering the polarisation of black and white in our society.
