When members of the Outram Garden Club discussed celebrating the club's 30th anniversary, it was generally agreed it had been founded in 1981, so plans began to be made to mark it this year.
Then the first minute book turned up and there it was: the record of the first meeting of the Outram Garden Club, held in the Memorial Hall, on February 28, 1980.
"Because we didn't find the early record books in time for a celebration last year, it is being held next month," committee member Ellen Ferguson, of Outram, explains.
Fourteen people attended that first meeting.
Some, including people who have moved from the area, are expected to attend the anniversary lunch on April 2, in the hall where it all started.
The guest speaker will be writer-gardener De Vella Gore, of Lake Hayes.
