Happy Easter from Fresh's editor

After such an amazing run of weather, hearing the rain on the roof is a refreshing change.

Now, we have hit autumn and the bounty it brings such as apples, pears, pumpkins, beans and feijoas, it is cool enough to spend time in the kitchen baking and roasting.

We have had a chat with Allyson Gofton discovering she is enjoying spending time with her family as they settle in to their new home while also celebrating the release of her latest cookbook.

She shares a few recipes and some advice about a feijoa cake and, as a nod to a late Easter, chocolate hot cross buns.

If you are still mourning the end of summer, Ode chef Lucas Parkinson shows what can be done with that late summer produce which is still lingering due to the unseasonably warm start to autumn.

To finish, or start, a night with friends and family, Fiona McLaren has come up with some refreshing drinks.

Her “hot crossed” combination of cocoa, chilli, star anise and almond milk with a dash of rum could hit the spot on a cool Easter evening.

Enjoy your Easter break.
