Another internationally renowned fashion leader is joining the ranks of this year's iD Dunedin Fashion Week judges.
Fashion lecturer and former lingerie designer Lucy Jones will be one of five judges at the 10th anniversary iD International Emerging Designer Awards in the Dunedin Town Hall on April 3.
The Briton will travel to Dunedin from Singapore, where she is head of department and principal lecturer of fashion studies at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.
Paris-based Australian fashion designer Martin Grant and World co-founder Francis Hooper, of Auckland, will also judge the awards, alongside Dunedin fashion stalwarts Margi Robertson (Nom*D) and Tanya Carlson.
Ms Jones was director of fashion and textiles at the University of East London between 2004 and 2012, and has been involved in fashion education for more than 25 years.
She said the iD International Emerging Designer Awards had been ''on my radar'' for a number of years, so it was an honour and great privilege to be part of the event's judging panel.
''I am really looking forward to seeing the flair and creativity of the finalists, and contributing to the discourse surrounding fashion, design creativity and education in New Zealand.''
Otago Polytechnic academic leader of fashion and iD Dunedin Fashion Week committee member Dr Margo Barton said it was a thrill to host another ''high calibre'' fashion educator for the annual event.
''Lucy Jones is a name associated with internationalisation and collaboration. It is an honour to have her involved and I'm sure our awards finalists will benefit greatly by having the opportunity to hear her opinions of their work,'' she said.
The 28 finalists from eight countries will arrive in Dunedin next week.
They will vie for prizes worth more than $22,000 and the chance to show their collections in the iD Dunedin Fashion Show at the Dunedin Railway Station on April 4 and 5.
Auckland broadcaster Carol Hirschfeld, a longtime iD supporter, will host the awards show.
