Dozens of hopeful models had an unusual audition for iD Dunedin Fashion Week yesterday.
A public casting call saw the would-be models auditioning on a catwalk in the Ra Bar in the Octagon, to smiles from diners and tourists.
"We've never done a casting like this for iD Fashion Week before, but this is the fourth year of our cycle, when all our students leave and go off to all parts of the world and the country," Ali McD Modelling Agency director Aliana McDaniel said yesterday.
"We needed 14 models and we filled those spots easily.
"We got 30 girls and two boys and it was a really high standard," she said.
"It saves me having to go out and hunt people down on the streets. We've got 51 models in the iD show this year, 35 in the emerging designer awards and a make-up team of 25."
The 2011 iD Dunedin Fashion Week will be held from April 5 to 10.
