This school break is the perfect time for taking kids to Larnach Castle, as it’s continuing with ‘‘Kids Go Free’’ during term holidays.
That means that, with a paying adult, children will get to experience what this amazing piece of local history has to offer for free.
And to make sure they’re paying attention, there’s a quiz which will have them hunting down information, with the chance to go into the draw to win a prize.
‘‘Kids Go Free’’ is valid at Larnach Castle during the school-holiday period only. It applies to those aged 14 and under, and there’s no limit on the number of children as long as they’re accompanied by a minimum of one paying adult.
One of the most popular school-holiday activities in Dunedin, the Teddy Bears’ Picnic will be held on Thursday July 18. It is the perfect opportunity to get your teddy bears, and of course the kids, out of the house. The price of a ticket for the Teddy Bears’ Picnic includes free garden entry. See www.larnachcastle.co.nz for more information.
July is certainly a big month for Larnach Castle, with the famous annual Winter Ball on Friday the 19th — the 35th consecutive year that the castle’s flagship event has been held.
Of course the Larnach Castle gardens are a wonder throughout the year, but they really start to show their colours in August, when the first flowers of spring appear and Snowdrop Day, a favourite for local gardeners, is held.
