The Zonta Club of Metropolitan Dunedin proudly invites you to A Conversation with Louise Nicholas ONZM.

Join the Zonta Club of Metropolitan Dunedin at the Hutton Theatre Otago Museum for an informative evening with time for audience questions followed by light refreshments.
Ingrid Leary MP for Taieri will be in conversation with Louise.

Louise is a survivor of sexual/violence/abuse. After taking on the justice system to pursue her allegations of rape by several police officers Louise began campaigning for the rights of survivors of sexual abuse. Between 1993 & 2006 after six gruelling court cases Louise became the public face of an issue that had largely remained hidden.

In 2007 Rotorua's former CIB boss John Dewar, the man she had entrusted with her original complaint in 1993, was jailed for trying to obstruct the course of justice in her case. Louise has dedicated her life to supporting and advocating for the survivors of sexual violence. She is likely to have achieved more for people affected by sexual violence than any other single individual over the past thirty years. She has been instrumental in effecting change within the New Zealand Police force on how they treat those reporting sexual/violence/abuse.

Zonta International's advocacy campaign 'Zonta Says No to Violence Against Women' campaign was launched in 2012, to raise awareness of the global pandemic of women's rights violations and has united Zonta clubs worldwide in conducting impactful advocacy actions to fight violence against women and gender inequality.

Zonta International envisions a world in which women's rights are recognised as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential.  In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men.

The Zonta Club of Metropolitan Dunedin is proud to host this event. We wish to thank our sponsors: Dunedin City Council, Patricia France Trust & Bright Eyes Photography as without their support we could not bring this free event to the people of Dunedin.
