Graduate Ezrah Lavea says a meeting with her Careers Advisor over a possible part-time job, led her on a journey of self-discovery and the Certificate in Music qualification at MAINZ.
“I visited the careers lady, asking about a job and I saw a MAINZ Star course booklet sitting on her desk,” she says.
“I just wanted to come, have fun, meet new people, jam, make music .... and that all happened. MAINZ became my family.”
She is now working in marketing and social media at MAINZ, while studying a Certificate in Business.
“I first volunteered to help out at the Auckland Careers Expo in May 2018,” Ezrah says.
“After that, they saw how well I did and offered me a job working alongside Merrie, visiting High Schools for their career evenings.”
Ezrah says she loved her course. She got to meet a range of talented musicians, and she found the tutors very helpful.
“It (the course) made me more mature, confident, happy and outgoing.
“It was a great experience and great opportunity.”
MAINZ also helped contribute to further study and Ezrah obtaining work in the industry.
“They helped me find my interest in marketing, so now I want to work in events, do marketing and social media.”
