Auckland musician Lisandru Grigorut, aka $noregazZzm, is back in Dunedin this week on his ''Spirit Hell Beings 21'' tour.

Released by Dunedin electronic label Charisma Collective, the album is a deeply introspective lyrical work, touching on life, death, and annihilation, while maintaining an upbeat, raving electro 8-bit dance-backing track.

To set the evening apart, the show is being held at Mars Bar above Laser Force.

- After a two-year journey, Deirdre Newall releases her anticipated debut solo album Tiny Pieces of Eight tomorrow at Chick's Hotel.

Newall, best known for her decade-long involvement with the Tui Award-winning Dunedin-based group Delgirl, has spent the past two years working and performing with an eclectic array of musicians in four different band formations.

Forbes Williams, of Studio Otoitu, engineered and produced the album, which ''took all of two days and nights to record and helped along by the full moon, pizza and some nasty red wine!'', says Newall.

- The Amped Music project is nearly finished for 2013, and to celebrate the impending release of a compilation CD professionally recorded by the bands involved, it's time to bring it all together for one last time.

Tonight's show at Re:Fuel will feature performances from the ''class of 2013'' and will also be joined by guest bands, featuring members who have helped the project out along the way this year.

- The Smiths, one of the greatest bands in indie rock, continue to inspire even years after their dissolution.

On Thursday, a group of local musicians gather to pay tribute to Morrissey, Marr, Joyce and Rourke, at Queens with an evening of Smiths and Morrissey covers.
