Music Review: Kids See Ghosts

His third release in as many weeks sees Kanye West coalesce with longtime collaborator Kid Cudi under the Kids See Ghosts moniker, picking up where ye left off while evoking 808s and Heartbreak’s axis-shifting tone.

A lesson in lo-fi aesthetics, this 7-track, 23-minute affair takes in hip-hop, rock, R&B and psychedelia, thrillingly playing to the strengths of its protagonists: Cudi’s knack for melodic vocal tics is to the fore on Feel the Love and the gloriously fragile Reborn, while Yeezy’s warped atmospherics on the title track and Freeeeee (Ghost Town Pt.2)’s kitchen-sink carnival suggests there’s little to be afraid of.
