Antarctica, The Julian Temple Band's sixth album, delivers a more diverse sound through its expansion to six members.
Sonically, Antarctica takes us on a wild journey where all that matters is good musicianship, and there's that in spades. Hundred Year Storm is an in-your-face tour de force with Temple's angry sounding vocals bursting through a wall of sound. Certainly the expanded line-up has created more possibilities, and instead of conflict between the violins and synths with the rock guitar/bass/drums sound, it's a mix that delivers.
Alternative rock is the closest moniker I could find, but the Julian Temple Band isn't a one genre, one trick pony, so sit back and listen with no expectations. It worked for me.
