Garage rawk's Renaissance man is at it again on his third solo LP, abandoning both the back-to-basics blues of his former day jobs and the maximalist rock `n' roll assault of 2014's acclaimed Lazaretto for a more experimental flamboyance, one that is sure to augment his role at the forefront of the guitar-slinging vanguard.
Ricocheting wildly between plaintive country, Zeppelin-esque guitar histrionics, discordant electronic bleeps and spoken-word tracks (he even tries rap on Ice Zebra Station) this is a thrillingly off-kilter set for which the rulebook has been shredded.
