Lindsay Lohan's attorney is denying allegations that the actress stole a $US2500 necklace.
Attorney Shawn Chapman Holley said in a statement at the weekend that she and Lohan would fight the case if charges were filed against the 24-year-old.
Los Angeles police investigated whether Lohan took the necklace without permission from a jewellery store last month and presented potential evidence to prosecutors last week.
If charges are filed, it would be another blow for the "Mean Girls" star, who has struggled to complete the terms of her probation on a 2007 drunken driving case.
