Here comes Ratchet & Clank again

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
Sony
PlayStation 2

3 stars (out of 5)

The Ratchet & Clank series has sold millions and millions of copies and with good reason.

It's a great mix of the juvenile and the diverse, and its gameplay is a shining example for others.

The Size Matters edition of the series launched for the PlayStation Portable last year and has now ported to the PS2, which is still the most popular console in New Zealand.

Like the original, it features Ratchet - a catlike creature called a Lombax - and robot sidekick Clank on their quest to rescue a girl called Luna, who is lost somewhere in the galaxy.

The game is heavy on platform-hopping, weapon-upgrading and manic adventure, which is what we have come to expect from the Ratchet series.

There are also plenty of puzzles to solve and minigames to break it all up.

Graphically, Size Matters does not translate as well as it could from the handheld.

Things look a bit clunky at times, the camera work is on the hyperactive side and overall the game feels a bit watered down.

Still worth a look.
