Poetry a growing attraction

A National Poetry Day event on Friday evening is expected to be so popular that, for the first time, bookings are being encouraged.

The annual poetry evening at Dunedin Central Library was expected to fill up all 150 available seats and people were encouraged to book a seat, Dunedin Public Libraries marketing co-ordinator Lynette Hartgill said.

"It is anticipated that there will still be a queue of people hoping for standby seating," she said.

Readings by poets Diane Brown, Rogelio Guedea, Michael Harlow, Amos Mann, Sarah Paterson, Jenny Powell and Cy Mathews will feature.

Bookings can be made by emailing library@dcc.govt.nz or by calling 474-3690.

Entry is free.
