Organist pulls out the stops

Joseph Campbell organist Rachel Swindells has won the $1500 Alan Hewson Memorial Trophy at the New Zealand Association of Organists Congress, in Auckland.

Her winning performances were of Bach's Fantasia in G Minor and Litanies, by French composer Jehan Alain.

The second prize of $750 was shared by Eunice Ha Choi and Nicholas Sutcliffe, both of Auckland.

Ms Swindells also plays at St Paul's Anglican Cathedral and is Fleming Galway Organ Scholar at Knox College.
