Musical Theatre Dunedin will produce major Broadway show Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in October next year.
The company, which will stage the show at the Mayfair Theatre, previously produced the show in 1978, with the late Rob Guest as lead, when it was known as the Dunedin Operatic Society.
Its name was changed to Musical Theatre Dunedin at a special meeting in December, as members felt it had outgrown the operatic name.
In recent years, the company has produced a major production every two years, interspersed with theatre restaurants at its Sullivan St theatre rooms.
The company will next produce themed restaurant show Some Enchanted Evening, featuring the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein, in November, and Forbidden Broadway, a spoof on Broadway shows, in March next year.
