Chasing dream at Regent

The naughty but nice Shirley Valentine visits Dunedin next week for the Otago Community Hospice.

The show features Shortland Street and Hercules actor Nancy Schroder as Shirley Valentine.

The housewife goes on a journey of rediscovery one day after realising she has lost touch with her dreams.

What follows is a two-week romp in Greece, where she falls in love with life again.

"She questions life, the meaning of it and how we live it," Schroder said.

"The play is like a conversation with a best mate, over a glass of wine. The audience becomes the best mate as the performance unfolds."

Shirley Valentine is on for one night only at 8pm in the Regent Theatre on July 3.

Pottery skills on show

The clay will be flying - or, at least, gently sculpted - near the Octagon today and tomorrow.

Potter Peter Gregory will hold pottery demonstrations between 11am and 2pm today and tomorrow in the Community Gallery, as part of an exhibition to showcase the talents of Blueskin Bay artists.

"4 Men's Media" features the work of Justin Morshuis, Mike Bowden, Jack Monaghan and Gregory.

The exhibition, sponsored by Gallery on Blueskin, is on at the Community Gallery until Sunday.
