Argentina fans, sensing a possible boilover early in the match, did their best to cheer on their team, but it was the English fans left singing loudest when reserve back Ben Youngs cantered over for the game's only try.
Police would not comment on the behaviour of fans, nor on how many arrests were made inside the ground, when contacted after the final whistle.
It is understood some people were being held in police cells at Dunedin, while a handful of spectators were ejected from the ground due to their intoxication levels.
