TIckets for Dunedin's Kendrick Lamar show are selling fast.

A spokeswoman for Ticketmaster said this afternoon there were still tickets left for the rapper's Dunedin show on July 17, but tickets for his Auckland on July 19 show had sold out within 24 minutes after going on sale today.

A second Auckland show on July 20 had been scheduled in response, she said.

Tickets for the Forsyth Barr Stadium show in Dunedin went on sale about 1pm today and by 1.10pm the only tickets available were special package tickets, which started at $361 for an early entry ticket and go up to $631 for a ticket, which included a meet and greet.

Some seated and general admission tickets were available again at 1.30pm.

Fans took to Twitter to complain about the speed with which tickets sold out when they went on sale at midday.

One fan claimed tickets had sold out after just 22 seconds, but promoters said all tickets were gone after 24 minutes.

Just minutes after going on sale, ticket resale site Viagogo was listing tickets for inflated prices.

Lamar will be here on the back of his last album DAMN. He was last here headlining Auckland City Limits music festival in 2016.

His latest tour has received rave reviews since it debuted at last year's Coachella Music Festival. The Guardian gave his recent London show a five-star review, calling it "masterful".

"Kendrick exudes confidence, a messianic figure come to Earth to try and solve its maladies, yes, but also show it a hell of a good time."

That Viagogo site is screwing things up for people who aren't made of money. There must be some way to organise ticket sales so that they can never be sold for more than they were bought for.
