A man who streaked across the pitch in the final seconds of the All Blacks test at Eden Park on Saturday is fundraising to cover a possible $5000 fine.

The 23-year-old, originally from Ruakaka, will appear in the Auckland District Court on Friday.

He is facing one count of invading a pitch of a major sporting event.

A video of the man filmed in the stands shows him undressing and making a run for it just after the Lions scored a try in the dying moments of the game.

It is understood he was attending the match with his father.

He spoke to NZME's Radio Hauraki yesterday about the escapade.

"It was a bit of spur-of-the-moment peer pressure from a few different people, my father being one of them and yeah, went for a bit of a run," he said.

The Herald has chosen not to name the man at this stage.

"To be honest, not a lot was going through my head, just thought I'd have a bit of fun and they obviously didn't like it as much as I did.

"It was still fun while it lasted."

The man claimed he didn't really have a "game plan", he just went for it.

He said there wasn't much going through his mind as he ran, pulling his shirt off and waving it above his head, other than "dodging the big Islanders running at me".

A security guard at the side of the field tried to grab the 23-year-old but he managed to slip past and run about 30m before he was taken down.

He was not injured.

"They were punching me though when I was under the pile," he said.

The man has set up a Givealittle page to help pay for his fine - should he get one.

Pitch invasion carries a $5000 maximum fine and he wants help to pay for it should that be his punishment.

"I'd appreciate if anyone found it funny or anyone had a cheer if you could donate a dollar or two that would be awesome," he said.

He also revealed he'd been banned from Eden Park for two years.

When asked if he would consider streaking again he was coy.

"I'll probably keep my kit on."

For those who think everything's 'PC'. This man is seeking financial assistance to cover expenses incurred by his:

Lack of impulse control
Ego
Exhibitionism
Public indecency

His defence: a bit of a disruptive streak is almost a public service.

The cost of the fine is well known Perhaps a bit of forethought was needed here.

A bit less alcohol as well. Don't give him a cent. Will teach him a lesson.

If his father thought it a good idea ask him for a contribution

My granny was tickled pink to see this young buck out there. It was just part of the entertainment...the crowd went wild!!!
