The sentencing of a man who took sexual pictures of a young Russian girl has been put off to next week after he became ill in court today.
Glenn Roderick Holland, 67, was due to be sentenced in the Auckland District Court today on two charges but began vomiting during proceedings.
In December, he was found guilty of a charge of being party to sexual conduct with a child overseas. He had previously pleaded guilty to a second charge of possession of objectionable photos.
He is one of the first New Zealanders to be convicted of committing a crime against children overseas.
While in the dock, Holland fell physically ill while his lawyer Harvey Juran was speaking.
Holland was taken away by security guards after he vomited into a waste basket, and an ambulance was called.
He is a diabetic, and had ingested a sugary substance in court before becoming ill.
In court, Judge Chris Field said Holland had been taken to hospital where he was due to remain for observation for 24 hours.
The sentencing was adjourned until next week.
