"It's the ultimate."

That is how Cooke Howlison Toyota managing director John Marsh described winning the Toyota supreme award at the recent Toyota and Lexus Excellence Awards.

The award is presented for overall excellence in branch operations, market leadership and branch facilities and is contested each year among the 64 Toyota and Lexus stores throughout the country.

Cooke Howlison, which has been locally owned and operated since 1895, has now won it three times in 34 years and Mr Marsh said he was proud of the entire team that contributed to it.

"It’s a real honour. We’re the best of the best," he said.

A new showroom in Andersons Bay Rd was opened in 2018 and he believed it was the best Toyota facility in New Zealand, Mr Marsh said.

Chief executive Matthew Downing said Cooke Howlison was also one of three finalists in the Toyota finance award.

A staff celebration would be held to mark the success.
