After a tumultuous several years for the cruise industry, Dunedin’s Zest4Travel team has something to celebrate.

Janine Mallon was recently awarded New Zealand Cruise Consultant of the Year at the Cruise Lines International Association’s (CLIA) awards ceremony in Sydney.

Unable to attend due to work commitments, cruising the Chilean Fiords around Patagonia with Ponant cruise line, her award was accepted by colleague Erin Graham, who was a finalist in the New Zealand rising star category.

Ms Mallon described it as an "awesome achievement" after everything that had happened in the industry over the last three years.

"To be nominated and become a finalist for such an award is fantastic, but winning is something else."

CLIA was the world’s largest cruise industry trade association and the award recognised the time, effort and financial contribution to marketing and selling cruises through what had been an unpredictable period for the industry, she said.

Over the past several years, Zest4Travel supported locals with their domestic and international travel, including helping overseas referrals with MIQ bookings.

The team is starting to expand and a new satellite location in Lincoln is planned.
