Fast charge for a long journey

With the onset of school holidays, TomTom has launched a tool which could save the sanity of parents on a long drive to visit grandparents.

The three-in-one high-speed multicharger can charge up to three devices in the car at once and up to four times faster than a normal USB charger.

Not only does the driver get instructions on how to get to the destination from the GPS unit, but now the children can be kept happy by having their devices - such as tablets, mobile phones or a DVD player - charged while driving.

The TomTom charger has a recommended retail price of $49.95.

All devices will receive full power charging simultaneously as the device includes two dedicated USB ports that provide full power at all times.

TomTom Asia Pacific marketing communications manager Nick Saisanas said most comparable products charged up to 2.1 amps split between ports.

As well as a 1.2 amp USB charging port suitable for mobile phones or MP3 players, there is a 2.1 amp port to speed-charge high-power USB devices.

There is also a dedicated port for powering in 12V in-car devices.

"It's the first TomTom accessory that enables users to charge their TomTom device and other mobile devices at the same time and to charge them faster than other chargers."
