A colouring book containing pictures of some of Dunedin's tourist attractions was the winning idea for Namcap NZ, the Young Enterprise Scheme Otago team from Kaikorai Valley College.

The team will represent the region at the national awards, which will be judged in Wellington on November 4.

The "Colourful Dunedin" book was a colouring book featuring selected Dunedin's favourite family attractions which also included coupons giving discounts for those attractions, the team said in its winning presentation.

"The colouring book costs $5, but with the amount of savings it seems like we are paying you for the book," the team wrote.

The scheme is organised by the Otago Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the Enterprise New Zealand Trust.

Young Enterprise Scheme co-ordinator Paul Allen said nine high schools were represented by 15 student companies and 109 pupils.

The products ranged from fudge to the colouring books.
