The agreement allowed for an exclusive licence to use the cosmetic facial live probiotic serum formulation containing BLIS Q24 under the Emma Lewisham brand in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom, where the beauty brand had developed a strong presence, an update to the market yesterday said.
In 2021, Emma Lewisham became the first carbon-positive beauty brand.
That year, business power couple Rob and Sara Fyfe took a stake in the company, which was launched by Emma Lewisham and husband Andrew in 2019.
Products have been used by celebrities such as Margot Robbie and Kourtney Kardashian.
Blis chief executive Brian Watson said the Emma Lewisham brand was well regarded internationally and Blis looked forward to supporting its growth plans.
BLIS Q24 is a patented strain of micrococcus luteus, a species of bacterium naturally found on the skin.
The strain was isolated in 2004 by Prof Emeritus John Tagg, who recognised its ability to inhibit the growth of key skin pathogens associated with skin diseases.
