Stocking of shelves at the new Bunnings Warehouse store in Dunedin is well under way, in preparation for its opening early next month.

Bunnings New Zealand manager Rod Caust said merchandising started in the middle of May and would continue up to the opening, which he would only confirm as being early in July.

"We have worked very closely with the team at Calder Stewart and despite very difficult weather conditions, the project has come together very smoothly and on time," he said.

The Australian-based retailer has invested more than $20 million on the 12,566sq m site which includes retail space, a trade yard, garden centre and parking for 250 cars.

It will employ 110 people in part-time and full-time positions.
