Raising the roof

Crane riggers get ready to hoist the canopy of the Mobil service station on Portsmouth Dr, last week as part of a $550,000 redevelopment of the premises.

Mobil Dunedin owner Beven O'Callaghan said a canopy will be brought in from a former service station at Caversham, which had been decommissioned to make way for the planned expansion of State Highway 1.

New fuel tanks are also scheduled to be brought in to the expanded Portsmouth Dr garage, with three 50,000 litre tanks planned for the premises, he said.

The new tanks will increase the service station's fuel capacity, replacing tanks which held 40,000 litres, and two of 30,000 litres, Mr O'Callaghan said.
