Supermarket giant Progressive Enterprises says it is still "investigating" purchase of a large block of land in South Dunedin, which it was reported to have bought earlier in the year.
In early April, several Dunedin sources said Progressive had acquired for development a three-section, 1.1ha site bordering Andersons Bay Rd for an estimated $3 million to $4 million. It was thought it was the first step in what could be a total $20 million investment.
Progressive spokesman Bill Moore yesterday said plans were still at a very preliminary stage and still undergoing investigation.
A Dunedin property syndicate which owns the largest of the land parcels, and also the site of Progressive-owned Woolworths supermarket on Andersons Bay Rd, was understood to have struck the deal with an out-of-town broker.
