Three Otago companies have been recognised nationally on the Deloitte Fast 50 index.

Dunedin cloud software company Timely was on Thursday night named the 15th fastest-growing company in the national Deloitte Fast 50 with 379% revenue growth over three years.

Dunedin cancer diagnostic company Pacific Edge was named 20th fastest-growing company with 324% growth in revenue over three years and was the only healthcare company to feature.

Queenstown MAXRaft featured on the index for the third year, coming in at 33rd, having posted revenue growth of 224% over three years.

Deloitte Queenstown partner Dan Hellyer, one of the regional Fast 50 organisers, told the Otago Daily Times the results were even more impressive because the entry bar was raised last year.

``The bottom revenue number was raised, making it harder to get in. It's good to see Timely there. It was recognised as one of our rising stars two years ago before moving to the Fast 50.''

The success of regional companies usually inspired others to try to emulate them, he said.

Yesterday, he had been talking to clients who wanted to do better next year.

``Already, they are planning on what they can to do to improve,'' Mr Hellyer said.

Pacific Edge chief executive David Darling was delighted yesterday to be included in the Fast 50 index.

``It is great recognition for the hard work and dedication of our team over the last few years.''

What was especially rewarding was Pacific Edge's success in developing a world-leading suite of diagnostic tests using innovative new technology.

From the beginning, Pacific Edge had focused on enabling better care and outcomes for patients by providing more effective, highly accurate and non-invasive tests which allowed for more informed decision-making by clinicians.

The most exciting thing for Pacific Edge was the traction it was gaining in the United States, the world's largest healthcare market and the recognition being received from urologists around the world who were advocates for the technology.

``We are still in the early stages of our commercial journey and we see a bright future ahead of us,'' Mr Darling said.

MAXRaft is the company behind the fully-insulated concrete slab.

General manager Henry Edney said despite having been in business for just four years, the company had revenue growth of 224% over the past three years and employed 15 people.

The company ranked 16th in the national index for 2015 and 33rd in 2016.

Being part of the Fast 50 Festival of Fast Growth was inspiring, he said.

``It's hugely motivational to be able to network with such a diverse range of businesses and industry experts that are all achieving outstanding growth. To be ranked as one of New Zealand's fastest-growing businesses for the third year is phenomenal.''

The growth was a testament to the staff and their commitment to innovate and test new concepts and ideas to further improve the offering, Mr Edney said.

The company had achieved impressive year-on-year growth due to its niche product and its mission to help New Zealanders into better homes.
