Shaun Drylie has been appointed the new chief executive of SBS Bank, replacing Wayne Evans who died suddenly in January.

Mr Drylie grew up in the South Island towns of Blenheim, Dunedin and Hokitka, starting his banking career in Greymouth 30 years ago.

He has been part of the ASB Banking Group since 1994, moving to Vietnam in 2014 to take up banking growth and development role with Commonwealth Bank VIB (Vietnam) as head of operational excellence and general manager of the capability exchange programme.

Mr Drylie said today he was delighted to be joining the SBS team.

"The bank's values and vision for the future really connect with me. A bank that is in business for its customers rather than shareholders through its member structure is a unique proposition and competitive advantage."
