After winning the retail store of the year at this year's national hardware awards yesterday, one of its stars - Hayden Autridge - also walked away with the young retailer of the year award.
Mr Autridge (26), now group inventory manager, has been with Mitre 10 for six years and has been promoted four times.
His Dunedin colleague, assistant retail manager Shannon Read (28), was also shortlisted for the award.
Neil Finn-House, Group Chief Executive of Mitre 10 MEGA Dunedin and Mosgiel, said the awards were a wonderful recognition for the team and business.
"We're really proud of the careers that these two have created with us. They're going to go on and do amazing things and I'm excited to see where they end up.
"There are lots of opportunities within the company for them and we're always encouraging them to be ambitious and strive for excellence."
Mr Autridge said he had a career in retail in mind, with a goal to be managing his own Mitre 10 store in the next five years.
As part of his prize, he will feature in NZ Hardware Journal, receive a trophy and certificate and be rewarded with a place at a retail executive education programme next year in Auckland.
He will also receive a travel prize towards travel to an international trade show of his choosing.
