The new MBA mentoring programme was formally launched on Thursday at the commerce building with the 18 full-time MBA students meeting their mentors for the first time, in what will be a year-long partnership.
Olga Meglinskaya, manager of MBA executive programmes, said the programme had attracted a diverse, accomplished and experienced group of mentors from a wide variety of business sectors.
"We hope the programme will enable students to have a robust Kiwi experience with their mentors as well as building strong links between the business community and the university," she said.
While the students bought a wealth of knowledge and experience from their own countries, Ms Meglinskaya said the mentors' assistance would enhance their learning and development within the MBA programme.
The mentors are Phil Page, of Gallaway Cook Allan Lawyers; dentist Mike Smith; Laura McElhone, from the Dunedin City Council; financial adviser George Friedlander; police training co-ordinator Ingrid Adamcyzk; Westpac branch manager David Tapp; Peter Harris, from the council's economic development unit; Deloitte finance manager Daniel Hellyer; Kelly Pankhurst and Sharon Knowles, from Anderson Lloyd Lawyers; accountant Stephen Craig-Pearson; University of Otago staff member Justin Gardner, Alison Stewart, Stuart Barson and Mike O'Connor; Susie Staley, of Staley Cardoza Lawyers; Peter Fennessey, of AbacusBio Ltd and Michael Lee, from Pfizer.
