Leith Distributors in voluntary liquidation

Dunedin food and drinks wholesaler Leith Distributors has been placed in voluntary liquidation, but there is a possible buyer on the horizon.

Leith, the trading name of Freshstart 2007 Ltd, is owned by sole director and shareholder Peter Hanlin, of Mosgiel, according to Companies Office records.

Leith was placed in liquidation yesterday by Mr Hanlin, and is in the hands of liquidator Iain Nellies, of Insolvency Management Ltd.

Working from Harrow St, with four full-time staff and four part-time, Leith was understood to have more than 30 clients and supplied gourmet foods, including antipasto, oils, cured meats, cheeses and coffee to numerous restaurants and outlets around Dunedin.

Mr Nellies said it was too early to estimate how much the company might owe, but he was in negotiations with a third party over a "tentative sale" of the company as an ongoing concern, as opposed to immediately moving to wind up the business.
