A third southern high country station is on the market, with Foveran Deer Park in the Hakataramea Valley, South Canterbury, offered for sale.
Three properties covering 2900ha are included in the listing, including one of the country's leading stud deer herds, a fine-wool merino flock, a safari park and a beef cattle herd.
Foveran Station is the largest of the three at 1389ha, Winterburg, close to Foveran, is 595ha and Hakataramea Downs covers 914ha at the head of the Hakataramea Valley. Together, they carry about 15,000 stock units.
The property now known as Foveran Deer Park, owned by Bob and Jen Robertson, was bought by Mr Robertson's grandfather in the 1920s.
In 1982, Mr Robertson bought the property and established the deer farm, building it up to a high performing herd of about 1400 hinds and 900 stags, partly based on imported deer from Germany.
The property is also home to New Zealand Trophy Hunting, a company which specialises in organising game-hunting experiences on the station but also licensed hunting concessions throughout New Zealand.
The sale, being conducted by PGG Wrightson and Bayleys, is by international private treaty.
The other properties recently placed on the market are Mt Pisa near Cromwell and Patearoa Station in the Maniototo.
