Tenders closed this week on a large 14,600sq m commercial property and building in Dunedin owned by Fonterra.
Fonterra is moving its dry warehousing operations to the former Fisher and Paykel Appliances site it purchased in Mosgiel for $20 million by October, prompting the dairy firm to sell buildings and a five-year lease on two Kitchener St sites, on land owned by Port Otago subsidiary, Chalmers Property.
A Colliers International spokesman said yesterday the company was still working "with several interested parties" over a potential sale.
The property was close to the Otago Regional Council's proposed new office site and could be included in the Dunedin City Council's harbour-side development,Fonterra already owned the Mosgiel site and had leased it back to Appliances until the end of June.
The multimillion-dollar project would allow products to be railed to Port Chalmers.
