Wool prices strengthened for most types as buyers at the wool sale in Christchurch yesterday were active in securing good volumes for scouring and prompt shipping.
Buyers also took advantage of the sudden drop in the New Zealand dollar overnight to further underpin the price, Dave Burridge, from PGG Wrightson Wool, said.
Good demand for lambs wool, 75mm and longer, was a feature of the offering, Roger Fuller, of Elders Primary Wool, said.
There was well-spread competition, with China continuing to dominate, supported by Australia and New Zealand, Western Europe, India and the Middle East.
