Tight supplies helped prices improve for most wool types at last week's combined South and North Island wool sales.
The improvement was despite a currency that was nearly 2% stronger than for the previous sale on June 3, but recent wet weather prevented shearing, meaning supplies were tight which benefitted prices.
A nominal offering of mid micron fleece, 26 to 31.5 micron, rose 1%-2%, fine crossbred wool by up to 2%, second shears and first lamb's wool rose 1%-3%, while combing oddments lifted 1%-5%, with poorer styles appreciating the most.
The sales attracted 8700 bales with 72% selling.
