Locharburn Herefords, from Cromwell, achieved a top price of $19,000 at its recent annual sale.
Geof and Joyce Brown sold 27 bulls for an average of $5760. The top-priced bull was sold to Stonehenge Merinos in the Maniototo, while Cattle Flat Station bought the second-top priced bull for $14,000.
There was very strong support from buyers from Wairoa to Southland, PGG Wrightson Otago stud stock specialist Roger Keach said.
Earnscleugh Station sold 27 Angus bulls for an average of $4407 and a top price of $9000, 25 composite bulls for an average of $4488 and a top price of $8000, and 15 Hereford bulls for an average of $3606 and a top price of $5800.
The Devery family, of Pikoburn Angus, and Gordon Shearing, of Pourakino Downs Herefords, held a very sound first on-farm sale, both achieving a top price of $7000.
Monymusk Herefords, from Te Anau, sold 25 bulls for an average of $5652 and a top price of $11,500, while Waikaka Herefords sold 14 bulls with a top price of $8000
