Ed Sims to leave Air New Zealand

Ed Sims, Air New Zealand's international airline group general manager, is leaving the company.

Air NZ said that after a very successful 10 years with the business, Mr Sims has decided to pursue other opportunities. He will leave toward the end of this year, or early next year.

Mr Sims joined Air New Zealand in 2001 as vice-president of the airline's retail division, having previously held senior positions with the Virgin Travel Group and Airtours, Europe's largest packaged operator, according to the company's website.

In 2002, he became the vice-president of marketing and alliances. He was appointed to his current role in December 2003 with responsibility for the international cabin crew and long haul fleet induction and refurbishment programmes.

These responsibilities have expanded to include all international operations, offshore sales and marketing activity, operation of international airports, and the cargo sales business.
