Four Otago projects are finalists in the Civil Contractors New Zealand four-day conference which starts in Dunedin on Wednesday next week.
Winners of the national awards are due to be announced on Friday.
The awards are made of three groups, including the CCNZ Hirepool Construction Excellence Awards and the CCNZ Connexis Awards.
The Shotover wastewater treatment plant upgrade and Lake's Edge Kawarau Village projects are finalists in the construction excellence awards. The awards recognise excellence in the construction or maintenance of assets and have five categories with 27 finalists.
Fulton Hogan Alexandra is a finalist in the company awards for its design work on the Shotover Bridge gas pipeline project.
The wastewater project, undertaken by Downer NZ, involved the design and construction of the first stage of a planned three-stage upgrade to the existing facility. The upgrade, commissioned by Queenstown-Lakes District Council, was needed because of the expanding population, booming tourism industry and stringent discharge conditions.
The Lake's Edge Kawarau Village, completed by Civil Construction, included design, site clearance, earthworks, ground improvements, services, roading, landscaping and retaining work.
CCNZ chief executive Peter Silcock said the awards were an annual highlight for the civil construction industry and a chance to celebrate the hard and dedicated work CCNZ members undertook on every project.
''Our members create the backbone of the nation and the awards are a way of saying: 'Thanks for doing a wonderful job, we really appreciate what you do in your communities'.''
