The owners of Side On in Moray Pl, Alan Baxter and Renee Hope, have gone from operating a sourdough bakery and cafe to offering things like groceries and eggs from local suppliers.
"We’re sort of becoming more of a grocer," Mr Baxter said. "We’ve been paying pretty close attention to what businesses overseas are doing ... [with] Level 3-type restrictions."
The pair will do contactless deliveries themselves, including of bakery products they continue to make, or allow people to come and pick products up.
The Perc Cafe, near the Octagon, is also offering a pickup service where people can make an order through an app called Regulr and pick food up.
Perc Cafe owner Sarah Hussey said they would put food on a large table next to the front door inside the store and people would be able to drop in when food was ready.
While it was nice to spend time with family during the lockdown, she was anxious to open the store again.
"You just kind of feel it, like sand running through your fingers, while your doors are closed so I’m pretty keen to get back in there," she said.
"So are the staff ... Everyone’s keen."
The store will have payWave available for people who do not want to use the app and Mrs Hussey was confident customers would respect the social distancing rule when picking up food.
