Does a quirky coffee shop float your boat?

Coffee Afloat and Burger Afloat, which offer food and refreshments from two boats on Lake Dunstan, are being offered for sale.

The business had its origins in the first Covid lockdown in 2020.

When the borders shut, affecting Richard and Jolanda Foale’s Cromwell helicopter-sightseeing company, they decided to start a new enterprise.

Coffee Afloat, serving walkers and cyclists on the Lake Dunstan Trail, became a hit, baristas serving 200-plus cyclists most days. Building on that success, they opened Burger Afloat on a second boat.

Gary Kirk, of Bayleys Cromwell, said the business was a “ready-to-go” operation.

Mr Foale said the couple had "thoroughly enjoyed" the venture and they saw plenty of potential to grow it further.

They had been very hands on in the business and they were keen to have a break.

"With a heavy heart, we decided to do it [sell the business]," he said.

They were happy to guide a new owner into the new season.
