Dunedin triples skip Terry Scott could win his 10th title and reach a significant milestone in the Bowls New Zealand intercentre event at Palmerston North this weekend.
He is part of a strong Dunedin team that contains three other international bowlers - Ken Walker, Jim Scott and Paul Girdler.
Terry Scott needs just one more New Zealand intercentre title to add a bar to his gold star.
Scott (52), the greenkeeper at the North East Valley club, won his ninth title when Dunedin won a cliffhanger in Palmerston North three years ago.
Scott, a permanent fixture in the Dunedin team for the last 25 years, won his first title in 1982.
Ken Walker, the skip of the Dunedin pairs combination, has won eight intercentre titles.
Neville Hill, who played for five centres, including Dunedin has won the event seven times.
The other teams in the two-day event are Canterbury, Wellington, Counties-Manakau, Northland, Gisborne-East Coast.
Dunedin is also one of the six finalists in the Development competition.
- North East Valley finished third (14 points) behind Palmerston North (22 points) and Eastbourne (15 points) in the national interclub division one finals at Palmerston North yesterday.
The fours combination of Doug Thomas, Alan Black, Jim Scott and Terry Scott was the best performed team. It won four of its five games.
Shaun Scott won two of his five singles games.
Port Chalmers finished fifth in the six-team competition in the men's division two competition, and the combined North East Valley-Port Chalmers team finished fifth in the women's division two competition.
